G.M.A 89.24 was the retrospective anniversary exhibition of Galerie Mikael Andersen’s 35 years as a leading art gallery in Copenhagen.

The gallery opened in the summer of 1989 and has since exhibited at the same address: Bredgade 63 in Copenhagen. The exhibition takes form as a spatial collage of works and stories from the all the years, where the life of the gallery unfolds in a multitude of perspectives on past and present times.

Not quite an information-dense museum exhibition but also not quite just a gallery show, we chose to mediation the gallery’s history through modest, branded archival cards and two large curtains custom printed with 35 years of snapshots, newspaper clippings and gallery show installation shots.

It was important to us that the tone of voice (both in writing and the visuals) was a familiar, almost homey one.
